Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly is a writer. His goal in University was to become a writer which he did. He looked into the fields of Journalism and creative writing. After University he pursed more into a writing career. He worked for a newspaper in Florida. With the newspaper his focus was on the crimes that occurred in Florida. He was well on his way to becoming a successful writer. He went from journalism to becoming a reporter for the Los Angeles Times which was written by his idol and influence Raymond Chandler.

Raymond Chandler
was a screenwriter, pulp fiction writer and an unsuccessful journalist. He too worked for a newspaper company, as he did write the Los Angeles Times, and he was a reporter too. He had books published such as “The Black Sheep.” Although he was emotionally depressed he did influence Michael to go into writing, journalism and reporting.

Both Chandler and Connelly’s writing was focused on the violence that happened in their city. Connelly, being a jouranlist and reporter got his break into writing his first novel, “The Black Echo.” This was a reflection on the crimes and he was reporting. Both their writings were based on life and others based on personal emotions. Like Chandler’s books, Michael’s books also won the Edgar Awards.

How does Michael see the world differently as a regular person and a writer/journalist/reporter?
